The long awaited opening of the Race Village at St Katharine Docks, London is now just four weeks away today.
On Saturday 22 August the central London marina will be taken over by the Clipper 2015-16 Race with daily live entertainment and free open boat tours, as well as numerous food stalls and merchandise stands.
In addition to all that Clipper Race crew, their supporters and the general public are welcome to attend daily information talks and Q&A sessions with fellow crew and show off their competitive side with remote control model yacht racing.
The daily entertainment will be themed around the fourteen host ports in this, the race’s tenth edition, and will include Chinese lions, African drummers, Brazilian dancers and British walkabout bands.
There will also be crew recruitment talks held in the Clipper Race Office at International House at 10am on Sunday 23 August and Friday 28 August at 6pm.
Free open boat tours will run from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 22 – Saturday 29 August as the crew make their final preparations for the first race to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The week of festivities culminates on Sunday 30 August with a spectacular parade of sail along the River Thames when Tower Bridge will open for all twelve yachts to sail through it twice before the teams head off on their 40,000 mile circumnavigation.
The first race will start off Southend on Monday 31st August at 1230 BST (1130 UTC).
