The Race Village in London opens in four weeks

The long awaited opening of the Race Village at St Katharine Docks, London is now just four weeks away today.

On Saturday 22 August the central London marina will be taken over by the Clipper 2015-16 Race with daily live entertainment and free open boat tours, as well as numerous food stalls and merchandise stands.

Da Nang in Central Vietnam will be my leg 5 stopover

Today it was announced that Da Nang in Central Vietnam will be the stopover for leg 5 from Airlie Beach Australia to Qingdao China.

Da Nang will not only be the stopover sponsor but will also sponsor a team which will be announced next week.

Da Nang is a coastal city in central Vietnam known for its sandy beaches and history as a French colonial port. It’s a popular base for visiting the inland Bà Nà hills. Here the Hải Vân Pass has views of Da Nang Bay and the Marble Mountains, 5 limestone outcrops that are home to pagodas and caves containing Buddhist shrines.

The Final Level 4 Race Training

The final Level 4 training started on Sunday 12th July but as I had to be in London on Friday to renew my passport, I was able to arrive on Saturday and help with the “victualling”, the sailors equivalent of grocery shopping. Continue reading →

Team Unicef weekend

A group of 23 relative strangers came together in a field at Blandford Forum, Dorset setup their tents wondering what was going to happen. We all had met each other at crew allocation, maybe had a chat over coffee or a pint in the bar that evening. This was an opportunity to really get to know each other and to start to gel together as a team.
